We have reached the point in the Hellraiser series where anything that made the original film good has been boiled down and processed into campy, bloody goo.
Pinhead has become both the main and antagonist and some kind of tragic anti-hero. Whatever mystery existed has been eroded with excessive explanation and over-exposure. The universe has gone to a relatively grounded place that happens to have demons lurking in it to something that appears to just exist around Hell.
It terms of campy horror sequels, it is still not a bad film; it just isn't comparable to the first or even the second movie.
