A statement regarding my use of LLMs (AI) on this site:

My personal opinion on AI is that we are past the point of getting the toothpaste back into the tube; Big Tech has already squeezed it all out, smearing it all over the bathroom that is the internet. No matter how we may want to, there is no getting it back into containment. As such, I feel like there is no reason to learn how to work with it, or at least work around it.

In regard to HTML, CSS, and JS on this site, I believe it's more accurate to say that it was 99% written by a human. If you see RegEx in my JS, that is almost certainly AI written. I absolutely cannot stand RegEx. While some of this site is AI-assisted, a large majority of it is not. You're welcome to inspect my source and witness my janky, poorly indented code for yourself.

The extent of my AI usage on this site is generally limited to formatting code and minor tweaks to CSS and JS when I am unable to brute force or find a solution online. My experience with AI for web design is that it is generally unreliable for anything beyond minor tweaks and error correction. I have vibe-coded entire websites before, but this isn't particularly satisfying or really building any skillset beyond prompt engineering.

I have been using Lumo and Duck.AI in a effort to attempt to maintain some level of privacy and support companies that at least claim to not use user data for training purposes.

I realize that AI-use is a controversial topic, especially in a community like Neocities that values genuineness and the human touch that has been largely stripped out of the modern web. If you have a major issue with this, feel free to send me a strongly worded email or a webmention. Or, you know, close out of the tab.

Best of luck to everyone out there prepping for the AI apocalypse. I say that with only a tinge of sarcasm. I'm not ruling out that possibility.
